Paramount+ backed series Star Trek: Picard has been halted after more than 50 members associated with this project, have tested positive for COVID-19. This sad news came on Monday, it was the first day of the shoot after the Christmas holiday. The news was reported in The Hollywood Reporter and since then the sets of the series has remained in dark. The makers are aiming to spring back in action early next week not anytime before it, only if things fall in place. However, the exact deets on the same remain under wraps.
Patrick Stewart headlined series has a massive crew with more than 450 staffers and the infection of COVID-19 has impacted many zones which also includes cast the Zone A. This sudden news of more than 50 members from the series testing positive for COVID-19, besides this, many shows which were in their filming stages came to a halt due to rise in COVID-19 cases. This also included CBS Studios backed series which also included, NCIS, where people were tested positive for the Novel Coronavirus.
The rise in COVID-19 cases and the new variant Omicron, has affected many other events as well. It also included cancelling prestigious events such as Grammy Awards, screening events for TV and Films. It was also reported that Sundance Film Festival due to the COVID-19 threat, has been shifted to the virtual platform.

The makers of Star Trek: Picard were reportedly filming for the second and third season back-to-back in order to control the production cost and also to accommodate the production schedule.
