Late comedian Raju Srivastav left a void in the world, when he breathed his last in September 2022. He was on a ventilator, undergoing treatment, after he suffered a heart attack in August. His daughter Antara Srivastav, who aspires to be a filmmaker in the entertainment industry, recently opened up about her father’s sudden demise.

During an interview with The Times Of India, Antara recalled how when she first heard the news, she thought it was a rumour or that the media mixed-up the name of the late comedian and his brother, Kaju. She went on to reveal how her paternal uncle was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi because of accumulation of fluid in his brain, when her father had suffered a heart attack. She went on to say how her uncle was going to be operated on the same day that father collapsed at the gym. She thought the news of her father was a rumour as he was looking after his brother “shuttling in and out of the hospital, attending to him.” ALSO READ: Raju Srivastava’s FINAL Appearance In Hostel Daze Season 3 Teaser Leaves Fans Emotional; Write, ‘Late Raju Ji Ko Dekh Ke Acha Lga’

Talking about how Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan enquired about her father’s health every single day, Antara told the media publication, “I must tell you that there is one man who enquired about my Dad's health every single day when he was hospitalized. And that's Amitabh Bachchan. That's a very big thing. My Dad idolized him and he became what he was because of Mr Bachchan. This all gave us a lot of strength.” ALSO READ: Raju Srivastava Prayer Meet: Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh, Shailesh Lodha Look Inconsolable As They Pay Condolense To Late Comedian- Video Inside

She even recalled the last conversation she had with her father. She reminisced how they had celebrated her birthday together because he had been out of town for quite some time. She said, “Life never tells you that this is going to be the last time. He was out of town for the last 10 days. A day after my birthday, he had shot for Laughter Champion. We celebrated my birthday and he shared the kind of jokes he'd cracked there. A few days after that, he left for outstation. He often went for tours.”

For the unversed, Raju Srivastav left behind a legacy that will forever be remembered. He is survived by his wife Shikha, daughter Antara and son Ayushman, who is learning sitar from Pandit Niladri Kumar.
