Those films will be screened at 17 venues that include single-screen theatres such as Minar, Bijali, Priya, Navina, Ajanta and New Empire, and Radha Studio, now called Cinema Centenary Bhavan, among others

Kolkata is hosting International Film Festival which was inaugurated by Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan at Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata. The gala was attended by a galaxy of stars from Bollywood, Bengali cinema and foreign shores.

Flanked by yesteryear's top heroine Rakhi Gulzar, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and 'thali girl' Srabonti Chatterjee, Roopa Ganguly, the actress turned politician Nusrat Jahan and Mimi Chakraborty, SRK lit the ceremonial lamp to wild cheers from the audience.

Amid all this, bengali beauties and celebrities also steal show as they were spotted dressed up in their best. All Bong divas arrived in a style at the starry night. All beauties were putting their best foot forward and slaying at the gala.

A new sculpture of three film workers at work has been installed in front of the main entrance. There will also be a special selfie zone as reported by the times of India.

Films from 76 countries will be screened at this year’s KIFF. Those films will be screened at 17 venues that include single-screen theatres such as Minar, Bijali, Priya, Navina, Ajanta and New Empire, and Radha Studio, now called Cinema Centenary Bhavan, among others.
For the first time, 3D films will be shown at KIFF 2019. The first one is a 2011 documentary ‘Pina’, based on dance choreographer Pina Bausch and the second one is ‘The Meaning of the World’, based on explorer and naturalist Alexander von Hum-boldt.
