Robibaar: Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jaya Ahsan to share screen for the first time in Atanu Ghosh’s next
Actor-director duo Prosenjit and Atanu are back after the super success of Mayurakshi
He is the biggest star this side of the border. She is the most celebrated actress across the line that separates Bangladesh from West Bengal. The two biggest names of Bengal and Bangladesh are coming together for Atanu Ghosh’s next film Robibaar. Prosenjit Chatterjee and Jaya Ahsan would certainly set your screens on fire, in their first film together. This isn’t the film’s only USP. Robibaar brings together the duo of Prosenjit Chatterjee and Atanu Ghosh, after the success of Mayurakshi.
Robibaar is a drama, interlaced with layers of emotion. It revolves around Sayoni (Jaya Ahsan) and Asimabha (Prosenjit Chatterjee), who bump into each other one fine Sunday, after a long interlude of fifteen years. The emotional drama is tempered with conflict and deceit.
“Working with Atanu is quite a challenge for me. He is one of my favourite directors. He brings a different flavour to his scripts and characterisation,” says Prosenjit about reprising his successful partnership with director Atanu Ghosh. What took him so long to work with Jaya Ahsan? “I was waiting for the right script to work with her. I had also waited for a long time to work with Soumitra Uncle (Soumitra Chatterjee) before Mayurakshi,” explains the handsome actor.
Jaya Ahsan has also worked with Atanu Ghosh in his film Binisutoy. How does she feel about working with Prosenjit for the first time? “I am lucky that our first film together is something so worthy. I am looking forward to the experience.”
Robibaar is presented by Sandeep Agarwal and Jay Agarwal, and produced by Echo Entertainment Pvt Ltd. It goes on the floor on Thursday, 12th September.
