It's your 15th year at Cannes. How do you feel?
God! How time flies! It has been 15 years with L'Oreal. I am grateful to the Almighty that he has kept my life so eventful and so busy, so many dimensions.
Are you nervous? Your outfits are again going to come under the scanner...
Let me tell you now itself that I didn’t have time to prepare. Sarbjit is round the corner, so I was busy promoting my film. This time, the more important thing for me is to go out there and share Sarbjit with the world media. I haven’t had time to even plan my wardrobe.
Does it hurt when the criticism is a lot?
No. not at all. It’s all just a learning curve. To begin with, I didn’t realize that the world was looking at it so closely. But now looking back, I think I started all the reviewing of the dresses when the world reviewed my wardrobe in 2003 and 2004.
Honestly, I feel good about it.
Suddenly there were all these panels in the magazines, newspapers and television. The whole business bloomed and blossomed (smiles).
The stylists in our industry have all come to be. I mean, it’s a vocation. The young talent is working towards it as a profession.
There has been a lot creative exchange between India and the nations overseas.
Even if I was the fall guy, I was the pioneer to all this.
