Harshvardhan Kapoor: Getting Terrific Response For Bhavesh Joshi On Netflix, Excited About Bindra Biopic Now

Harshvardhan Kapoor is in happy space. The young man is flooded with calls and text messages praising him and his film Bhavesh Joshi, more so since the day it went on Netflix. Read what he has to say about it, and lots more

Bhavesh Joshi is now on Netflix...
Yeah, and I am so glad that it happened. I think Netflix is a great platform for the film with its wide reach and audience from around the world.

Heard that you getting lots of calls praising you right from the day it went on Netflix...
That's right. I have got several calls praising my performance in Bhavesh Joshi. And it feels great when your work is being enjoyed. The film has found its audience on Netflix.

Have you seen Bhavesh Joshi on Netflix?
Yes of course. It’s in my recent watch history!

Any particular scenes they are raving about?
Quite a few actually. Concisely speaking, they have loved my journey in the film.

Putting the movie on Netflix has really helped. It wasn't seen by many when it hit theatres, perhaps because the marketing of the film fell a little short of what we had expected. Many people were not aware that Bhavesh Joshi had seen the light of day. But every film has its audience, whether it’s on the big screen, or now in the digital age on platforms like Netflix.

In hindsight, do you that Bhavesh Joshi was content that would have been better off if it was a OTT original?
It's a very interesting question that you have asked. Well yes, now that you say it, I think you are right. And, it would have definitely found a much larger audience. The earlier cut was more than 3 hr long, and we made it into 2 1/2 hr before we released it.  What if we had released six 30-minute episodes? I think a second season would have been in the offing.

So, are you open to doing OTT shows?
Certainly. In fact, when a script comes to me now, I would be very tempted to consider if it is suited to OTT. Because let’s be honest, OTT has a huge market and demand now.

Abroad they don't think twice about the budget of such shows. No compromises are made...
Yes, and it will happen in India too. All those myths are gonna end. Look at Sacred Games, how beautifully it has been treated. If the story is good then budget is secondary.  (pauses).

Go on...
Bhavesh Joshi is a film that I shall be always proud of. I would be open, not only for a OTT show but even films for OTT platforms. Besides, Netfix, Amazon, Hotstar and Jio are fast making some amazing content. Plus, my sensibilities are quite different. All said and done, it's soon gonna be a great time for story-telling.

OTT platforms don't have the burden of censoring their content...
And I love that. Let's have a Rating system like they have it abroad. Don't play with someone's creative vision. Ditto for movies; tighten the security and be strict at cinemas.

But objectionable stuff doesn't remain on OTT only. It finds its way to other sites which are accessible...
But that toh, you have a lot of things available on the Internet today which are bold. And, anybody having a phone has an Internet connection in it. Toh woh toh anyway dekh hi lega.

Bindra will be coaching you...
Yes, he will. But he will come in at a later stage when I have reached a certain level after training with other trainers.

What's after the Bindra biopic?
I am reading several scripts. Will lock some in the next few days. I’m in the deciding phase as of now.
