Hot and Sexy Mahek Chahal advised bed rest for 45 days; Boyfriend Ashmit taking good care of her
Here's the Kawach actress, who had to be replaced by Sara Khan in Ekta Kapoor's show, in a full-length interview with SpotboyE.com
How did you get injured?
Arre, you know how it is when you do TV, na? Someone will invariably ask
you how you accommodate your workouts during long hours of shoot. And then, you
will hit your physical regimen with vengeance as soon as you get even a little
time-off. That's exactly what happened with me. I went a little overboard while
doing kickboxing and twisted my right knee so badly that not only I had a torn
ligament, but even a crack in the bone.
It’s being said that you were not aware that you had been replaced in Kawach?
Rubbish.

But you have given a quote to a section of the media saying: “I’m not aware of
this news. I want to meet the producer, Ekta Kapoor, to update her personally
about my status.”
It was not official then and I was not supposed to confirm at that point of
time. Hence, I had to feign ignorance.
Did you speak to Ekta Kapoor before your exit?
Of course. In fact, Ekta has been extremely concerned about my health from Day
1. She used to often call me up and ask if I was fine.

Buzz is, you threw a lot of tantrums. You were taking too much time to get
ready and were not able to keep up pace with Mona Singh and Vivek Dahiya...

As per your medical diagnosis, how much rest is required?
The doctor has asked me to take rest for one-and-half months. I have started on
physiotherapy.
Is Ashmit (Patel, actor-boyfriend) taking good care of you?
(Laughs) Absolutely.
Are you living-in with him?
Not yet.

Are you both going to marry?
Too early to say. It's been just about a year since we started dating. Plus, we
are not 16 that we want to rush into a marriage. We are taking it by the day.
Has Ashmit mellowed down? I know him as a hot-headed guy...
(Laughs). He has mellowed down a lot. I have also known him for a long time.
There is a distinct change in him. He is far more caring and loving.
If you knew him since a long time, why did it take you a long time to fall in
love with him?
Well, we used to meet up in our common friends’ circle. We got to know each
other well only since the past 2 years when we started working out together in
the same gym. I realised that we had similar tastes and we struck an amazing
chemistry.

Who said 'I love you' first?
Arre, aisa kuch nahi hua. The friendship had intensified, the bonding had
strengthened, we knew what we had started feeling for each other. Dono ko hi 'I
love you' bolne ki zaroorat nahi padi.
Have you met his parents (Amit, Asha) and his sister (Ameesha)?
Yes. They are lovely people. In fact, tonight, Ashmit's parents celebrate their
45th wedding anniversary and we both will party with them.

Back to Kawach. How does it feel to be out from it?
I am feeling terrible. Kawach is a lovely show. But on the other hand, I am
relieved that I don't have to go to the sets anymore. It was a very demanding
role in terms of physical effort. If I had neglected my knee anymore, I
may have developed a permanent limp.
