Rohit Shetty EXCLUSIVE Interview: All About Simmba's Hot Buzz, Sara Ali Khan, Ranveer Singh, Ajay Devgn
From all the excitement around Simmba, to Dilwale going haywire and his subsequent equation with Shah Rukh Khan; filmmaker Rohit Shetty bares his heart out to SpotboyE.com, including his camaraderie with Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh
You may assume Rohit Shetty to be anxious and nervous, ahead of Simmba's release that features Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in lead roles. But, when SpotboyE.com sat for a quick interaction with the man, he seemed to be pretty chilled out and relaxed.
Starting off with his take on award shows, he revealed that he wasn’t called for them earlier, but of late, he has been attending them either in the capacity of a host or to give away an award to someone else. He even spoke of how earlier he wasn’t affected by reviews, by now they do affect him to a certain extent. Then, he veers toward Simmba, and says that he really enjoyed watching the South flick, Temper. He says, “If you see Temper and if you see Simmba, you will realize that they are two different things.”
Next, he speaks of how Sara Ali Khan came onboard. Says Rohit, "It all happened later on. Infact, the first call for Sara came from Gattu (Abhishek Kapoor). So, while she was doing Kedarnath and the movie was running through some financial issues, Sara messaged me, but I didn’t reply as I thought she’s a kid because she is not able to understand that Kedarnath needs to be her first film, and if she does my film, then it won’t be right on Gattu’s part, he should get the credit as he is launching her.” He further revealed that he was happy that eventually Kedarnath turned out to be her debut film.
He even addressed the failure of Dilwale that starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon. He stated that the movie's failure made him realize that he should turn to production. He feels that the increased 40 minutes duration that focused on their love story, is where they went wrong. He says that the credit for its failure should fall on him. He says that how failures are more highlighted than successes.
Finally, we ask him if he thinks he’s the highest paid director today, to which, he replies with a smile on his face, “I don’t know what others are charging” (and bursts into peals of laughter).
