Dangal actress Sanya Malhotra and TV show Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi actress Radhika Madan are gearing up for Vishal Bhardwaj’s Pataakha. Early this month, we got an opportunity to meet with the girls and ask them about their film. Being Sanya’s second film after Dangal and Radhika’s Bollywood debut after her superhit show, I started asking them about Pataakha. First I asked them how about their deglam avatar they are carrying in the film. Radhika was quick to respond saying, “Make-up, costume aur Vishal Bhardwaj ka kamaal.” Sanya then added, “Lagta hai no make-up, but we did a lot of make-up to look like Chutki and Badki.” Then both continued saying, “We are 5 shades darker with freckles, Beedi stains on teeth.” Sanya added, “Hume ek ghante se upar lagta tha to get ready. Plus, I am also wearing a wig and inhone (Radhika) ne bhi kuch part of the film me wig phena hai. So, it wasn’t like ‘deglam’ and ‘no make-up’.”
Radhika and Sanya’s film which also stars Sunil Grover, was earlier titled as Chhuriyaan. On the change of the title, Sanya said, “Chhuriyaan was a title that no one pronounced correctly. Vishal (Bhardwaj) also used to get irritated when someone used to call this film Chudiyaan (bangles) or Chhoriyaan (girls). We are fed up of telling people that it’s not Chudiyaan it’s Chhuriyaan. When Gulzar sir wrote its title track he told Vishal sir it should be titled as Pataakha. And when we all heard the song we loved the new title.” The Dangal actress also revealed that Radhika had not liked the new title when it was announced. Radhika then added, “I felt, Chhuriyaan is really apt and I was in love with the title. But then, when I heard the title track then I was like okay!” “As if meri koi sunne wala tha,” she added with a laugh.

The leading actresses also spoke in the same dialect as of the film. The actress also revaled what took them 2 years to be seen on the big screen. Sanya said, “Post Dangal, Pataakha is my 4th film. Though it’s releasing after Dangal, it’s very special for me. Obviously, it was my debut. I still get a lot of love for it. Mujhe badi khushi hoti hai, log mujhe abhi tak Babita bulate hain aur Dangal girl bulate hain. Firstly, I wanted a break because we had been shooting for Dangal for 2 years. So, I want some ‘me time’. In between I shot for Badhaai Ho and then Pataakha.” Radhika then said, “I had to unlearn whatever I had learnt in television. Then, I started attending workshops, I worked upon myself and then I auditioned for few films and I cracked Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, thereafter I learnt martial arts and then I started shooting for Pataakha. But it is realsing before Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota and it eventually becomes my debut, which I am really thankful for.”
