We caught up with Shahid Kapoor yesterday at Sea Princess
Hotel, Juhu. The actor was promoting Batti Gul Meter Chalu directed by Shree
Narayan Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar. Shahid and his co-stars, Shraddha
Kapoor and Yami Gautam, looked buoyant and we settled for a chat with them
around 4pm. The trio was extremely happy to be a part of a socially relevant
film. The 3 spoke in detail about the preparation that went into the movie, and
their excitement on being part of it.
Yami Gautam revealed that she made several trips to the Bombay High Court to get into the skin of her character. Yami plays Pia, a lawyer in the movie. Her trips to the city court apprised her of the finer nuances of the profession. From getting the sartorial style, to the body language and even the legal jargon right, Yami learnt much at the Bombay High Court. Shraddha Kapoor on the other hand, who is still fresh from the success of Stree, revealed that the last few months haven’t been the easiest for her. Having had a spate of not-so-successful films at the box-office, she spent several sleepless nights before her horror comedy hit screens. “Yes, I was very nervous. You know how unpredictable Hindi cinema is. Kuch pata nahin chalta kya chalega kya nahin,” revealed Shraddha.
The most interesting part of the conversation was new daddy Shahid talking about the arrival of Zain and whether Misha has started going to the movies, or not. He also spoke about an electricity bill that he had taken to the officials, when he was younger. He was staying with his mother Neelima Azim at that point, the bill was exorbitant and Shahid had rushed with a copy of it to concerned authorities for an explanation. But the officials had paid no heed to it. Don’t miss the above interview, it’s 15 minutes of excitement!
