Sunny Leone Endorses Anushka Sharma's Outcry On Sexism

Whatever Sunny Leone does, makes news - whether it is her next film Mastizaade or the new game Teen Patti that she has specially designed for her fans. As SpotboyE pins the actress down for a quick chat, Sunny fires away about it all - from "surviving" in Bollywood to sexism in the industry. Excerpts:
What was the idea behind launching Teen Patti on digital platform?
Everybody in India loves Teen Patti. So why not launch a game that caters to my fans here? I think it's an amazing way to connect with people who have been supporting me. Anybody and everybody can download it on their phones and play. It's interactive - they can sign in through Facebook, their pictures will show up and then they can talk to each other. You can message the other players and you can even send them gifts.
Have you ever played Teen Patti with cards in real?
I have played Poker and 3-Card Poker in the US. I've not played Teen Patti here, but I have watched people play it here during Diwali. Everyone goes nuts while playing it (laughs).
Talking about games, how's your game in Bollywood going?
I don't think of it as a game; it's more like a survival process. You have one weekend to make sure that your movie is amazing. My next movie, Mastizaade, is coming out in January. I hope people like it, I hope they laugh and have a good time.

Does it disturb you when a movie like Mastizaade gets 22 cuts (Sunny Leone's Masti Is Here For You, August 13)?
I believe in the process of censoring. I honestly believe that if you follow the guidelines and make the changes that the Government wants, then at some point, your movie will get passed. That's what happened with Mastizaade too.
Do you think the Indian Censor Board is very strict?
I think it's strict everywhere in the world. In the US, you can't show certain things on television. So there are rules everywhere. It's about how you follow them and what's okay for that particular country.
How do you go about choosing movies? Do you actively go out and meet filmmakers you want to work with?
Not really. My husband (Daniel Weber) meets every single person who calls him. He weeds through the people who are serious and not serious. There are lots of people who come saying, "Mere paas yeh movie hai. It's an awesome movie, it's got this, it's got that, it's got everything." Aur jab time aata hai serious baat karne ka, tab kuch nahin hota.

Do you think many people approach you just to up the glamour quotient of their film and there is no substance to your character in the story?
When you're a glamorous actress, there will be directors and producers who'll want to cast you so that you add glamour to their movies. It's natural. That's what's been happening since the beginning of filmmaking. It's not something that only I have brought to the table.
Anushka Sharma recently created ripples when she said that sexism is rampant in the industry. What's your take on the subject?
I think it's all about the energy that's around you. There are bad things that happen to people, there are things that are uncomfortable and weird - but it's about how you deal with it. Anushka is a strong woman, I am sure she deals with it easily.
Have you also experienced cases of sexism in Bollywood?
I think everybody has come across some sort of sexism at some point in their life. I don't need to get into details here (smiles).
What next after Mastizaade?
I have a very busy year ahead. I have signed 4 movies and am extremely excited about them. However, I can't divulge anything about those ventures at this point of time.
