First Day First Show: Sarkar 3 Registers A Lower Figure Than Meri Pyaari Bindu At The Box-Office

Early days yet, but a survey of a few suburban theatres revealed that Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra-starrer Meri Pyaari Bindu has raced ahead of Amitabh Bachchan’s Sarkar 3.

SpotboyE.com parked itself outside suburban theatres -- Cinepolis Andheri (West), PVR ICON (Versova), Carnival Cinemas (Oshiwara), Movietime (Goregaon) and PVR Juhu  -- to get a feel of the first day collections. To begin with, let us tell you that most movie halls were still playing Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion at 9 am.

Meri Pyaari Bindu was allotted the 10 am slots across, while Sarkar 3 managed to get only the 12 noon shows.

Coming to the audience’s reactions, people walking out of the Meri Pyaari Bindu shows said that the chemistry between Ayushmann and Parineeti was fantastic. However, a few people complained that the film was boring in certain parts. Also, some were disappointed with the ending.

As for Sarkar 3, theatres registered low footfalls on the first day. It was evident that ardent Amitabh Bachchan fans made for most of the attendees. While Amitabh blew away viewers with his performance, a few movie buffs termed the film as ‘sheer waste of 3 hours of their lives’.

So without further ado, let's see what trade experts and the theatre owners had to say about the films’ future.

PVR Juhu Owner, Ravi Sibal said, "Both movies have opened on a below average note. Even after having Amitabh Bachchan, Sarkar 3 hasn't got great footfalls. Meri Pyaari Bindu is still getting a better collection because of better reviews and people are calling it a really sweet film, but collections are below expectations. I am hoping the evening shows and tomorrow's shows will pick up for Meri Pyaari Bindu because of the good word-of-mouth. We might close the day today with just 40% occupancy on an average for each show. Baahubali 2 collections have dropped drastically, but the new movies aren't even touching that number."

Trade Expert Taran Adarsh summed up his thoughts on both the films by saying, "In one word, Sarkar 3 is disappointing, while Meri Pyaari Bindu is boring. Both films haven't had a great opening in the morning and afternoon shows. The collections are also below the mark. The Baahubali wave is still on. Its figures speaks for itself. The movie is still going strong."

Carnival Cinemas Chief Spokesperson, Gaurav said, "Both films are underwhelming. The reviews are poor, the collections are bad, thus the box-office will also not be great in terms of numbers. Throughout our chain, we have had an average of 10% occupancy for the morning and afternoon shows. On the contrary, Baahubali 2 still has 40% occupancy, which is great for the third week."

Stay tuned to SpotboyE.com for the cumulative first day collections of Meri Pyaari Bindu and Sarkar 3.
