Fuddu – Film Review : A Film That Looks At How The Middle Class Makes Love In Mumbai
Mumbai is a lionised city, adored as the ultimate dream by every single Indian. Same was the case with Shubham’s character, who hails from Benaras and comes to Mumbai. He is disturbed to see the cramped living spaces of Mumbaikars.
Mumbai is a lionised city, adored as the ultimate dream by every single Indian. Same was the case with Shubham’s character, who hails from Benaras and comes to Mumbai. He is disturbed to see the cramped living spaces of Mumbaikars.
His beginning was hassle free and without much struggle he gets a job, following which he gets married to Swati Kapoor’s character. Everything is fine, but what he desires is a little privacy now. After all Mumbai's real estate prices are so high that it’s very difficult to rent a house.
All this lack of space slowly starts taking a toll on our hero's sex life and he fails to consummate the marriage. Mind it, not because he was incapable but because of the lack of privacy.
What follows is –
Everyone, including his own family, labels him impotent and humiliates him.
Post the interval, brimming with testosterone, Shubham forcefully brings back his wife back who had left him and consummates the marriage.
The acting was ordinary but sufficient. Swati was good with her expressions in the little screen space provided to her.
Director Sunil Subramani highlights the serious issue of overcrowded Mumbai and the condition that Mumbaikars are forced to live in. But certain sequences didn't make sense. There was no need for the songs. But surprisingly, the film was interesting. Going by the plot it was not wrong to expect intimate moments and they were gently handled.
SpotboyE.com's biggest film buff Sangya Lakhanpal took to the theatre to review the film and gave it 2 stars.
