Aamir Khan surely knows how to compete not only with his contemporaries but also with himself. With Dangal, he has done exactly that. Just yesterday, SpotboyE Salaams Awards awarded Dangal with the Best Film Salaam of 2016 (SPOTBOYE SALAAMS: And The Winners Of 2016 Are..., Jan 4) and now its latest record-breaking achievement has further proved that our choice was just right.
This Aamir Khan-starrer has become the highest grossing film of 2016 surpassing the lifetime collection of Salman’s Sultan which made Rs 300.45 crore at the domestic box-office. It has also become the first ever Bollywood film to achieve the Rs 300 cr mark in 13 days. Dangal is now the fourth entrant to the club after PK, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan.
We guess Salman already predicted this when he saw Dangal. You may recall Salman took to Instagram soon after he saw Dangal and wrote, My Family saw #Dangal today evening and thought it was a much better film than #Sultan. Not just this, Aamir has broken his record as well. A whopping Rs 304.38 cr is what Aamir’s magnum opus has made at the box-office in 2 weeks. Rajkumar Hirani’s PK crossed this mark in 17 days, but Dangal took just 13 days, thereby setting a new record!
Indeed, it’s celebration time for Aamir Khan. Dangal has achieved what most of the industry and trade analyst predicted.
