Box-Office Collection: Lipstick Under My Burkha Almost Doubles Its Earnings On Day 2; Makes Rs 2.17 Crore
Things are looking up for Team Lipstick Under My Burkha. The film saw a jump in collections on Saturday and the total collections of the project now stand at Rs 3.39 crore. Kudos!
Made on a budget of Rs 4 crore and screened in only 400 screens across India, the second day figure of Ekta Kapoor’s Lipstick Under My Burkha starring Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Plabita Borthakur and Aahana Kumra, is nothing but great news for the makers of the film. While the film earned Rs 1.22 crore at the ticket windows on Day 1, it has managed to almost double its collection on Day 2. On Saturday the film did a business of Rs 2.17 crore, which is fantastic for such a small budget film.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh took to social media to share the figures a while ago. He tweeted, "#LipstickUnderMyBurkha witnesses growth on Sat... Fri 1.22 cr, Sat 2.17 cr. Total: ₹ 3.39 cr [400 screens]. India biz (sic)."

The amount might sound low, but for a controversial film like Lipstick Under My Burkha, which lost all hopes of being released on the big screen, the Day 2 collection looks more than satisfying.
Lipstick Under My Burkha opened to almost every show with over 60% occupancy across multiplexes.
Our film critic, Khalid Mohamed opined, “If you care for cinema which is bold and aesthetically beautiful, go ahead and get that ballsy shade of Lipstick right here, right now.”
Ekta Kapoor, who jumped on the boat as a distributor of the film last moment, is already celebrating. The filmmaker took to her Instagram account to share her joy. She uploaded a collage of all the positive feedback on the film from fans, stars, and critics and captioned it as, "They told us we won't open with good collections this ' woman' oriented film n we opened 5times of that ! U see half of india said TAKE THAT #lipstickrebellion #lipstickundermyburkha #lipstickrebellionbegins #MenForLipstick #thankugod #thankuaudience"
Well, the chances are high that Lipstick Under My Burkha will see a further jump on Sunday because of the tremendous word-of-mouth publicity.
