FIRST DAY COLLECTION: Vidya Balan’s Kahaani 2 Gets A Decent Start

Vidya Balan recent slate of films did not make a mark at the box-office, but after watching Kahaani 2 you definitely can’t write her off. She is back with Sujoy Ghosh’s suspense thriller which is the sequel to Kahaani and the Day 1 collections are out.

As posted by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film has recorded a figure if Rs 4.25 cr on Friday, which is a collection from about 1235 screens. After receiving decent reviews, the show picked up figures in the evening and night screenings.

Audiences unanimously loved Vidya's performance. Arjun Rampal’s performance too has been praised, who’s last film Rock On 2 bit the dust. While Vidya won many awards and accolades in Kahaani with her Bidya Bagchi performance, we wonder if this film will re-create the same magic.

On the other hand, Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi is all set to hit the 50 cr mark as per trade pundit Taran’s tweet. The Shah Rukh Khan-Alia Bhatt starrer has made a total collection of ₹ 49.25 cr on Week 2. It is expected to cross 50 cr mark today.


The therapeutic film had escaped the ill-effects of the demonetization bug and registered a strong start at the box-office collecting 8.75 cr on Day 1.

Dear Zindagi has been garnering good response from the public and the critics as well. However, prior to the release the makers and the people from the industry were unsure how will the film will fare at the box office considering the previous two releases Tum Bin 2, and Rock On 2 bombed at box office.

Coming back to Kahaani 2, the reviews of the film are fairly good, the film has had a decent start. Interestingly, Kahaani recorded a figure of 1 cr on its first day and later the figures sprang up high. So will Kahaani 2 have the same fate as its first instalment? Let’s wait till Sunday to know the exact weekend figures.
