Mission Mangal starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu, Kriti Kulhari, Sharman Joshi, Nithya Menen is doing wonders at the box-office. The first ever space film in Bollywood released on Aug 15 and collected Rs 29.16 Crores on its day first day. With this collection Mission Mangal became the biggest Independence Day opening in the last 3 years and the 3rd highest opener ever on this day after Singham Returns (32Cr) and Ek Tha Tiger (31cr). Mission Mangal which is said to be realistic and entertaining at the same time has created records in South as well.

But the film has witnessed a huge drop on Day 2 as it has collected Rs 17.28 crores on Day 2 and the total collection of the film comes to Rs 46.44 Cr. Tweeting the numbers of Day 2 Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, “#MissionMangal is unstoppable on Day 2 [working day after a big holiday]... Multiplexes are terrific, driving its biz... Day 3 and 4 will be massive again... Eyes ₹ 85 cr+ total in *extended* weekend... Thu 29.16 cr, Fri 17.28 cr. Total: ₹ 46.44 cr. India biz.”


SpotboyE Editor Vickey Lalwani rated the film 4.5 stars and wrote, “Akshay leads the way and he looks so handsome in those glasses. Brilliant performance. Watch him in the scenes with the antagonist Dalip Tahil. Watch how he treats his second-in-command Vidya and you will have a lump in your throat. Watch him how he fires Sonakshi. The list is long. And don't forget to note in this highly engaging film how Mr Kumar beautifully underplays himself!”
