Looks like finally word of mouth publicity, which is negative in the case of Thugs Of Hindostan, has impacted the box-office numbers of the film on Day 2. The trade expectation for Day 1 was 50 cr, it surpassed that figure and recorded 52.25 cr as its opening. And, a record was created- Highest Day 1 Collection By A Hindi Film. BUT Day 2 has brought bad news for the cast and crew of Thugs Of Hindostan as the film has dipped by a massive margin. As per reports in Box-Office India, it has managed to garner only Rs 28 cr (approx) on its second day at the ticket windows.
It was felt yesterday that the record opening was perhaps because of a holiday and also because everyone wanted to see Mr Perfectionist and the Shahenshah of Bollywood together for the first time on big screen. But the reviews were not encouraging at all almost across all platforms and with netizens too criticising the film hammer and tongs (with even memes), it was a foregone conclusion by last night that what lay in store.
SpotboyE.com rated Thugs Of Hindostan 2.5 stars, emphasising that its director Vijay Krishna Acharya had failed to roll out an interesting film. It's just a grand spectacle, said SpotboyE.com Editor Vickey Lalwani.
The second day kitty must be a big cause of worry for Team Thugs Of Hindostan. Although a few trade pundits have forecast a collection of Rs 180-200 cr in the first 4 days itself, we wonder if this big dip on Day 2 will make them rethink their analysis and expectations.
