Choreographer-turned-filmmaker Ahmed Khan’s new prestigious project Om The Battle Within which he co-produces with his wife Shaira, has found a leading lady. She is none other than Sanjana Sanghi, Sushant Singh Rajput’s significant other from his farewell film Dil Bechara.
Ahmed says he chose Sanjana because he needed someone young and capable of shouldering big responsibilities. “I needed a girl who is capable of great maturity and responsibility from a very young age. I myself started so young. At barely 9 I was a child actor in Raakh, Mr India, Aaj Ke Angaaray. At 16, I joined Saroj Khanji to learn choreography. So I know what it’s to start young.”
Ahmed saw a quality of vulnerability and strength in Sanjana. “The role in Dil Bechara was so complex. Sanjana didn’t seem like a first-timer. I was very impressed.”
But being an action film wouldn’t the girl in Om get sidelined by the script?
“No, not at all. Though Aditya Roy Kapur has all the action scenes, Sanjana is not a prop in the plot at all. She plays a very important part. Just wait and see. She is really good. She had so many offers after Dil Bechara. She waited for the right project . She isn’t a girl in a hurry. She will go far.”
