Save Aarey: Anushka Sharma Joins The Protest, Shraddha Kapoor Continues To Create Awareness

Reportedly, BMC has cleared the permission to chop off around 2700 trees to construct a car shed in Aarey. And for obvious reasons, this big decision of BMC has shook Mumbaikars. A report also states that Tree Authority of BMC permitted Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) to cut 2,232 trees from the locality, while 469 trees are planned to be relocated for construction of car service. Just like commoners, Bollywood celebs have also come forward to join hands to Save Aarey from deforestation.

A while back, Anushka Sharma shared an Insta story where she wrote, “The ecological balance is not something that we should take for granted. We need to have a serious rethink on the proposed cutting of 2700 tress in Aarey. Save Trees to save ourselves.” On the other hand, Shraddha Kapoor shared an Amul Ad on her Insta account. The ad sees girls holding hands and the line on the poster ad read, “Don’t make them Histree. Amul cut yellow, not green.”

A few days back, Shraddha Kapoor had come on the roads to join the protest to Save Aarey. During heavy rains and wind, Shraddha stood strong as they made a human chain at the Aarey. Sharing one picture from the protest, the Saaho actress wrote, “Trying to do my bit. Went live on my insta sometime back to show you all how so many people have come together to stand up against this. 2700+ trees are slated to be chopped down for the Metro. Unacceptable. Shocking. As if we don’t have enough environmental issues already. As if Mumbai doesn’t have enough pollution already. And permission is granted to chop off the lungs of the city. This HAS TO STOP. #SAVEAAREY #TRYYOURBITFORTHEENVIRONMENT @aareyforest”
