Actor Sushil Pandey, who was recently seen in Huma Qureshi’s Maharani, talks about working on OTT, reuniting with Article 15 team of Ayushmann Khurrana and Anubhav Sinha and other projects

Sushil Pandey is known for his small roles in films like Jab We Met, Article 15 and Jolly LLB 1 and 2, but now he is getting big roles on OTT. Recently, he was seen in Huma Qureshi-starrer Maharani as a private army commander Kunwar Singh. In the Subhash Kapoor directorial, his character is shown as a firm believer of caste discrimination. 

Having done so many films, ask Sushil about the difference between the mediums, and he says, “An actor will act irrespective. But the dynamics on OTT are different and actors like me are getting to do good parts here and be part of good stories. The pool of talent here is also very good,” he states. So, is he planning to focus more on OTT now? “The content is important to me, not the medium.”

Sushil will next be seen in Amazon prime Video’s Inside Edge 3. “I play a bookie in the show who dominates cricketers by trapping and blackmailing them and then uses them,” he shares. The actor will also be seen in Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Human, and he is in awe of the project. “It was a new subject and when Vipul sir narrated the story to me, I said yes within 15 minutes without even knowing my part. It was such a good story that I was sure that any part in it would be good,” he says.

Sushil informs that Human is about the manipulation that goes on in vaccine trials and “it is a well-researched show that needs to come out”. “It happens majorly in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh and there is a reason behind that, that will come out in the show. The show reflects how the rich and powerful control things but it also shows the heroism of the common man, when he decides to do something. I play the head of the family that undergoes the medical trial,” he shares.

Sushil is also reuniting with his Article 15 team of Anubhav Sinha and Ayushmann Khurrana on Anek. Talking about it, Sushil says, “Working with Anubhav sir makes me feel like I am playing in my mother’s lap. I feel very safe with him and it’s really fun. As for Ayushmann, he is a star but doesn’t act like it. He is so simple and we had developed a good friendship during Article 15. We played a lot of cricket then and during this film as well,” he concludes.
