16 Years Of Veer Zaara: Late Yash Raj Chopra Adored Tere Liye Song And It Remained His Ringtone Till He Breathed His Last
Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta starrer Veer Zaara is one of the most iconic films and blockbusters in Indian cinema. From it's stellar music to the heart touching story of Veer and Zaara, the film went down in the history of timeless love stories. Songs like Tere Liye, Do Pal and many more were in everyone's playlist. In fact, many even made them their ringtone. Speaking of which, even the late filmmaker Yash Raj Chopra made one of the songs his ringtone and it remained till the end. As Veer Zaara completed 16 years of release, Madan Mohan's son Sanjeev Kohli, who was CEO of YRF at the time, mentioned that Yash Raj was so fond of Tere Liye song that he made it as his ringtone and it remained his ringtone till he breathed his last. The tunes that were used in the film were over 28 years. Veer Zaara's music celebrated the late composer Madan Mohan.

While talking to Mid Day, Sanjeev told that he had mentioned to Yash Chopra and his Aditya Chopra about Madan Mohan's unused, unreleased and rejected dummy composition. The two were so excited that they decided Veer Zaara would have music by the maestro. "In 2003, one-day Yashji told me that after 6 years he had decided to direct another film, but a film that needed old-world music that was away from the western influences that had crept into the scene today. Instinctively, I blurted that I had some old-world melodies on tape, now not heard for 28 years. He seemed excited at the idea and very surprised that I had never mentioned this before. His son, Aditya Chopra was scripting the new film. Adi was a man of today and needed commercially acceptable songs. There was no place for nostalgia and emotions here. Only Yashji and Adi knew what they needed. I didn't," he told the portal.

On Veer Zaara's 16th anniversary, Zaara aka Preity Zinta took to her Instagram and shared a small clip of the movie and wrote, "Working with Yash Uncle on this labour of love was an incredible privilege & my most beautiful cinematic experience. I am forever grateful & indebted to him for making me part of Veer Zaara & for showering me with so much love & attention. Miss you Yash Uncle"

Apart from Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta, the movie also starred Rani Mukerji, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Kirron Kher, Manoj Bajpai and Divya Dutta. ALSO READ: DDLJ Clocks 25 Years: Shah Rukh Khan Felt He Wasn’t Cut Out To Play A Romantic Hero; Actor Says ‘Raj Was Unlike Anything I Had Done’
