Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year not only changed the face of college life for every student but also gave three rising stars of Bollywood, Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, and Sidharth Malhotra. The film back in 2012 became a rage and since the film was released, students couldn’t see their colleges thanks to the way Karan Johar showed us in this film. The film all the right of drama, comedy, masti and of course, ‘ishq wala love’ to make this film a blockbuster and well, it sort of did. Today, this film has completed its 7 years of release and an emotional and elated filmmaker took to his Instagram account to share his feelings regarding this film and the trio.
Karan shared a video along with an emotional note that says he made a family with this film. In his note, he thanked Alia for being his daughter, varun for being there for him and Sidharth for being the silent strong energy in his life. He wrote, “7 years ago I made a film and a family.....a family I can proudly call my own.... I look back at SOTY with abundant love in my heart...thank you @aliaabhatt for being my daughter ...for your infectious love and your large heart..for just being YOU! thank you @varundvn for being there for me always ...for having my back and calling me at odd hours to tell me what “not to do”...for your pure heart...I love you! Varun who played Rohan in the film also shared his happiness on social media as this film changed his life forever. He tweeted, “#7yearsofsoty a life changing movie for me thank u to everyone who worked on this and thank u @karanjohar @apoorvamehta18 @SidMalhotra @aliaa08 and all the fans involved in making this film so loved.”
While Alia who played Shanaya- Rohan’s girlfriend, also extended her happiness, “#StudentOfTheYear was the best school, teachers & friends anyone can wish for. Student Of The Year was released on October 19, 2012. After the mega-success of the first part, KJo decided to bring the second part which was Student Of The Year 2 starring Tiger Shroff, Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria which was a disaster at the box-office.
