It’s been almost two months since nationwide lockdown has been imposed to curb the multiplication of Coronavirus. Following the same, the shoots of Bollywood films and TV shows have come to a standstill. As we’ve entered the 4th phase of lockdown, the shoots of Bollywood and Television continue to remain on pause. While the makers of a few films, who completed the shoot before the lockdown, completed the post-production work at home and are set of OTTP release, while other films are still waiting for the shooting to resume so that films release on the decided dates.
But seems like, Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Laal Singh Chaddha falls in the latter category as it was slated for Christmas 2020 release. After completing the 4th schedule of film in Amritsar on March 17, makers decided to call off the shoots after cine bodies decided to suspend all shoots. According to a latest report in Mid-day, as Laal Singh Chaddha’s shoot is yet to be concluded, it might not make it to cinemas for Christmas. Yes, you heard that right!
A source close to the development revealed to Mid-day, “The unit was to head to Chandigarh for another round of filming. The shoot was moving like clockwork, and Aamir was hoping to release the first teaser around Diwali. However, the lockdown has put the brakes on his plans. Even if the shoots resume by August or September, it is unlikely that the movie will hit screens by December. It may target April 2021 for release."
Speaking about the film, the source added, “Besides presenting Aamir as a 20-something who grows older as the narrative progresses, the film will also depict events like the Babri Masjid demolition and the Kargil war. It won't be easy to complete such intricate VFX work in a short time.” (ALSO READ: Laal Singh Chaddha New Poster: Aamir Khan Pens Down A Love Note For Kareena Kapoor Khan On Valentine’s Day 2020)
