Abhishek Bachchan-Taapsee Pannu Will Live Sahir Ludhianvi And Amrita Pritam's Unrequited Love Story On Celluloid?
Looks like, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has finally zeroed down on Manmarziyaan actors- Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu to play the poet and his lover, Amrita Pritam respectively for the Sahir Ludhianvi biopic
After enthralling fans with their camaraderie in Anurag Kashyap’s Manmarziyaan, looks like Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu are ready to surprise everyone once again with their superb chemistry. Rumour mills are abuzz that the duo will reunite on-screen for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next, which is poet and famous Bollywood lyricist, Sahir Ludhianvi’s biopic.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the makers have zeroed down on Abhishek to play Ludhianvi while Taapsee will portray his lover, Amrita Pritam's role. A source close to the makers informed the leading tabloid, “The film is scheduled to go on the floors in October–December this year. Both Abhishek and Taapsee have loved the story and are looking forward to collaborate again. However, they are yet to sign on the dotted line. Once the formalities are locked, they will begin prep.”
Source further added, “The actress, who was spotted outside SLB’s office in January, has been offered the role of novelist and poet Amrita Pritam.”
Earlier, while talking about the film to the leading tabloid, SLB had said, "Sahir saab was one of our most talented poet lyricists, his verses are still inspiring. To bring them back through his love story will be beautiful but also a huge responsibility. It’s a difficult film for the writer-director (Jasmeet Reen) too so I don’t want to be in a hurry but give it the darza it deserves.”
Interestingly, Sahir Ludhianvi biopic has been in the news for quite some tome now. Earlier, it was reported that celebs like Shah Rukh Khan, Irrfan Khan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra have been also approached for the film. On playing Sahir, Irrfan had once told Mirror, “If it’s in my destiny I will play him in the biopic. If I don’t get the chance, I will bring shades of Sahir into my other roles.” However, if we go by the latest update, looks like Bhansali has finally found his Sahir and Amrita.
