After Taapsee Pannu, Vidya Balan Slams Media Trials Against Rhea Chakraborty: ‘Isn’t It Supposed To Be Innocent Until Proven Guilty?’
Sushant Singh Rajput’s father had filed an FIR in Patna, Bihar, accusing Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty of abetment of the actor’s suicide. Rhea has since then been at the receiving end of extreme hatred and abuse online. Recently, Rhea broke her silence in a tell-all interview wherein she addressed the allegations leveled against her. Several people condemned the vilification of Rhea and the media trials against her. Actress Lakshmi Manchu, in her post slamming media trials, said that the media has made a monster out of a girl. Now, Vidya Balan hailed Lakshmi for the post and aired her own views on the same.

After Taapsee Pannu, Vidya Balan also appreciated Lakshmi Manchu’s post and said that the tragic demise of Sushant has become a ‘media circus’. Vidya added that it is heartbreaking as a woman to see Rhea being vilified. She then questioned the media trials asking if one is supposed to be ‘innocent until proven guilty’ or otherwise. Urging people to show respect for the constitutional rights, Vidya Balan asked people to let law take its course.

Vidya Balan’s post read, “God bless you @LakshmiManchu for saying this out loud. It is so unfortunate that the tragic and untimely demise of a beloved young star Sushant Singh Rajput has become a media circus. In the same breath, as a woman, my heart breaks at the vilification of Rhea Chakraborty. Isn’t it supposed to be ‘Innocent Until Proven Guilty’, or is it now ‘Guilty Until Proven Innocent’!? Let’s show some respect for the constitutional rights of a citizen and let the law take its course.”

Meanwhile, Taapsee had earlier that while she did not know Sushant or Rhea on a personal level, she mentioned that is wrong to overtake judiciary to convict someone who isn’t proven guilty.
