Last night, an Air India Express aircraft carrying 191 passengers skid off on the runway due to heavy rains and broke into pieces at Kozhikode airport in Kerala. In the tragedy, 18 people, including both the pilots have lost their lives. A report in Indian Express states, the flight — IX 1344 — was attempting to land at the airport around 7.40 pm amid heavy rainfall and fell off the runway, to a slip road 34 feet below. Disturbed by the news, Bollywood celebs took to social media to pay their condolences to the deceased’s families.

Amitabh Bachchan wrote, “A terrible tragedy .. Air India crash in Kerala, Kozhikode airport, plane skids off the runway on landing in heavy rain .. Prayers …” Shah Rukh Khan wrote, “My heart goes out to the passengers and crew members on board the #AirIndia flight. Deepest condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones. Thoughts and prayers...,” while Akshay Kumar Tweeted, “Terrible news! Praying for the safety of all the passengers and crew on board the #AirIndia Express flight. My deepest condolences to those who have lost their loved ones.

On the other hand, Disha Patani said, “Deeply shocked by the tragic crash landing of the #AirIndia aircraft that overshot the runway in Kozhikode. Prayers for all passengers, pilots & crew onboard and at Calicut Airport. Terrible year this,” and Anupam Kher wrote, “Deeply saddened to know about the #AirIndia plane crash at #Kozhikode. My heart goes out to the families of the people who lost their loved ones. Praying for the injured.
