Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Resumes Shooting For Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan, Reports Say
The shooting of director Mani Ratnam's dream project Ponniyin Selvan has resumed in Puducherry. And it has been reported that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aishwarya Lekshmi have joined the team to shoot for their respective parts. Aishwarya Rai plays a dual role, Nandhini, and Mandakini Devi in the film.

The star-studded magnum opus features an ensemble of actors -- Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Vikram, Trisha Krishnan, Prakash Raj, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi and Aishwarya Lekshmi among others. Actor Karthi will too soon join the team. Aishwarya Rai and the makers had recently released a new poster of the film.

Director Mani Ratnam had earlier revealed that 75 per cent of shooting of the film was completed and that they are aiming for a theatrical release.

The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan -- chronicling the story of the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south. He later went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I.

Produced by Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions, 'Ponniyin Selvan' music is composed by AR Rahman.
