Sunday proved to be a bright sunny day for the Indians. Credit goes to paddler Bhavinaben Patel who made India proud at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics in Japan. The Indian table tennis player signed off with a historic silver medal in her maiden Paralympic Games after going down 0-3 to world number one Chinese paddler Ying Zhou in the women’s singles class 4 final on Sunday.

The news of her big win was followed by congratulatory messages from the prominent figures in the country - from the political, sports and entertainment industry.

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Kareena Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, and Kannada actor Sudeep took to social media to congratulate Bhavina. Akshay, who never misses to applaud the achievements of the sports personalities, penned, “Thank you for making history with your medal, #BhavinaPatel. It amazes me to see your talent and perseverance. #Paralympics #Tokyo2020.” Abhishek tweeted, “Glory, once again! Take a bow, Bhavina Patel, for winning silver with a stellar performance at #TokyoParalympics 2021!” Sudeep posted on Twitter, “Awsmmm.... congrats #BhavinaPatel”

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Taapsee Pannu and Neha Dhupia took to their Instagram stories and posted Bhavina's picture holding our National Flag, and congratulated her.

Bhavina had earlier reached the final by defeating world no. 3 China's Miao Zhang 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 9-11, 11-8 on Saturday. "I was slightly nervous during the match today. I couldn't implement my game strategy well. Next time, I will surely give my best. I'm happy that India has created history by winning a Silver medal in table tennis at Paralympics. I dedicate this silver medal to my country. I want to thank my coach, family members and friends for their constant support," Patel said.
