Akshay Kumar Appears Before SIT In Chandigarh Today For The Punjab Sacrilege Case
Akshay Kumar’s allegedly struck a Rs 100 crore deal between Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insaan and the former deputy chief minister of Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal. The star has refuted the allegations today
Akshay Kumar had been called by a Special Investigation
Team (SIT) of Punjab Police for investigation in the firing and sacrilege cases
that happened in Punjab in 2015. Not just Akshay, former Punjab CM Parkash
Singh Badal and former deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal were also summoned. Now
Akshay has appeared before the SIT and he has dismissed mediation charges in
the case.
The SIT were probing the cases in connection to an
alleged Rs 100 crore deal, which happened between the now-jailed Dera Sacha
Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insaan and the former deputy chief
minister of the state Sukhbir Singh Badal. Akshay had been alleged to have
mediated the multi-crore deal between the two.

Akshay, in his statement, has compared the allegations
against him with a Bollywood drama. "There was no other intention or
motive involved in the meeting. I met Sukhbir Singh Badal when I visited Punjab
in 2011 for a kabaddi match. And just two-three times afterwards. I know him as
I know other political leaders of the country. The period the allegations talk
about is the time I was busy with my movies Gabbar is Back and Baby. My wife's
tweet was also taken out of context even when it was a sarcastic jibe at
Gurmeet Ram Rahim. I and my family have immense respect for and full faith in
Guru Granth Sahib and Sikhism and we cannot even imagine to participate in a
conspiracy against them."
The SIT had asked Akshay to appear in Amristar for the
questioning. But, Akshay expressed his inability and requested the questioning
to take place at Chandigarh instead.
During today's interrogation, Akshay refused having ever
met Ram Rahim even when the two stayed in the same building. He also refused
having been offered a position in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD). Akshay went to
add that he would be willing to appear for any sort of questioning in future.
