Netizens mercilessly trolled Akshay Kumar for playing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the upcoming Marathi period drama ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’
Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar has collaborated with filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar for the upcoming Marathi period drama ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’. The actor will be seen playing the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the film that is being produced by Vaseem Qureshi. On Tuesday, the Laxmii actor shared the poster of the film and announced its first shooting schedule. The action-period drama has gone on floors in Mumbai. However, Kumar got brutally trolled by netizens as they took nasty digs at him over the failure of his film Samrat Prithviraj.
The 55-year-old actor took to his Instagram handle and shared the poster from the Marathi period drama and wrote, “Starting the shoot of Marathi film 'Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat' today, in which I am fortunate to play the role of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ji. I will try my best to take inspiration from his life and with the blessings of Maa Jijau! keep blessing.” Shortly after this, people started trolling him in the comments section. One netizen wrote, “lo ab ek aur iconic character ko kharab karega ye.” Another said, “Prithviraj ki to esi tesi kr di bs ise achha kr lena.” A third user reacted, “Bhai plz...tu mat ker ye...ek aur cararctor ko kharab ker dega.. Interestingly, Akshay starrer ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, which was released on June 3 this year, was a big flop at the box office. Directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, the historical drama was based on the life and times of Rajput emperor Prithviraj Chauhan and was made after 18 years of research.
Coming back to Mahesh Manjrekar’s forthcoming flick, ‘Vedat Marathe Veer Daudle Saat’ also stars Jay Dudhane, Utkarsha Shinde, Vishal Nikam, Virat Madke, Hardik Joshi, Satya, Akshay, Nawab Khan, and Praveen Tarde. It will release in cinemas on Diwali 2023 in Marathi, Hindi, Tamil & Telugu.
