Bollywood’s hit machine Akshay Kumar is an actor par excellence and there is no denying that! Khiladi Kumar is the most bankable and sought after stars in the industry with many films lineup. However, Akshay often comes under the radar of netizens for his Canadian citizenship. Now in a new interview the actor has opened up about why he decided to leave India to move to Canada for work. Kumar revealed that he delivered 14-15 flop films in a row.

Speaking with Lallantop, the Sooryavanshi actor was quoted saying, “A few years ago, my films were not working. Almost 14-15 films had not worked so I thought I should probably move elsewhere and work there. A lot of people move there (Canada) for work, but they are still Indians. So I also thought that if destiny is not supporting me here then I should do something about it. Akshay went on to explain that he has Canadian passport and he believes that it is just a document which is used to travel from one country to another. “I am an Indian, I pay all my taxes and pay them here. I have a choice to pay it there as well but I pay them in my country. I work in my country. A lot of people say things and they are allowed to. To them, I would just like to say that I am an Indian, and I will always be an Indian,” the 54-year-old actor further stated.

Earlier, during his appearance on Karan Johar’s chat show ‘Koffee With Karan 7’, Akshay had talked about getting trolled on social media for his Canadian citizenship and mentioned he is being called Canada Kumar and he really does not care about it. On the work front, the actor was recently seen in the family drama ‘Raksha Bandhan’ where he plays the role of a brother who wants his four sisters to get married soon. The film had a clash with Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha at the box office.
