Amid Controversy By Fans, Bhaagamathie Star Anushka Shetty Wishes Luck To Bhumi Pednekar For Durgamati; Says, 'Looking Forward'
The trailer of Bhumi Pednekar's Durgamati, which is an official Hindi remake of Bhaagamathie, had recently hit the internet. Bhumi's portrayal of a fierce Durgamati invited a lot of compliments; however, a huge section of Anushka Shetty fans was left unimpressed. Both Bhumi and Anushka, in fact, even trended on Twitter and as we checked the hashtag, it was majorly about her fans comparing Bhumi's look and performance to that of Anushka and criticising the former. As per those fans, Bhumi failed to match Shetty's screen presence and that the trailer of Durgamati was a rip-off. Amid all this, Anushka herself has taken to Instagram to send good wishes for the team of Durgamati.

The South sensation shared a poster of Bhumi as Durgamati and wished her and the entire team of the film very good luck. Anushka also expressed her excitement to watch the film. "Wishing dearest Bhumi Pednekar ,Ashok Garu ,entire cast and crew of #DURGAMATI all the very very very best ... looking forward @bhumipednekar @ashokdirector @primevideoin," wrote Anushka. Her fans, however, were adamant on their opinion on Durgamati. "She is a good actress but I don't think she can match you," wrote a user. (ALSO READ - Just Binge Session With Bhumi Pednekar: Durgamati Actor Talks About Her Prep And The Music That Gave Her Power To Play The Titular Role – VIDEO)

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Jisshu Sengupta, who plays a pivotal role in Durgamati, reacted to all the comparisons by saying, "There will be comparisons. Before the film releases, there are a lot of comments and a lot comparison which happen usually be it a remake or a normal film. Because I don’t know how people get to know the film. After watching the trailer, they get to know everything about the film. So, that’s the power of social media I guess. But then again, you need to watch the film, after watching it they’ll understand…. I can’t say it completely but whatever I have understood, the film is….yes, it is a remake but there are little changes here and there that makes the film much better than Bhaagamathie.”
