Amitabh Bachchan Skips KIFF Due To Health Issues; Mamata Banerjee Explains, ‘He Is Suffering A Lot’
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan's health speculations have been going around for a while now. Recently, celebrating 50 years in the industry, Big B had written a long note on his blog about his health and how he is back to the grind despite doctors giving him a strong warning to take some time off work. On Friday, Amitabh Bachchan was supposed to inaugurate the Kolkata International Film Festival but could not make it. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that he had to cancel his presence due to being unwell and in discomfort.

“Amitabhji comes here every time. But he could not turn up. Since last night he is unwell. So doctors have restricted his movements. He is suffering a lot since last night,”IANS quoted Mamata Banerjee saying at the inauguration programme. She also said that she got a message from Big B and also Jaya Bachchan informing her about his indisposition. “Today though he could not come, I believe Amitji’s mind is with this festival. We cannot think of this film festival without him,” she said.

Amitabh Bachchan confirmed this by tweeting on Saturday, “T 3543 - .. was to be in Kolkata for KIFF ,but a medical condition put me in bed .. apologies KIFF and the passionate people of Kolkata .. i shall make up some day .. sorry.”

In the absence of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan opened the film festival along with some other famous guests being present including Sourav Ganguly, Mahesh Bhatt and yesteryear actress Rakhi Gulzar.
