A.R. Rahman’s Wonderment Tour turned Mumbai’s Jio World Garden into a spectacular celebration of music on Sunday evening, drawing nearly 9,000 people to a sold-out, three-hour concert. Blending some of his most celebrated film compositions with newer works and performances by an exciting line-up of singers, the evening emerged as a memorable musical experience, with audiences calling it one of the best live shows they had ever witnessed.

The concert featured Jonita Gandhi, A.R. Ameen, Raghav Kaushik, Nakul Abhyankar, Heer and Rakshita, alongside several emerging voices introduced by Rahman. The inclusion of young male and female singers reflected the composer’s continued commitment to creating opportunities for fresh talent while sharing the stage with established performers. The band Rooh-e-noor also performed as part of the evening’s musical showcase.

Opening the concert with Jai Ho, Rahman took the audience through an expansive musical journey spanning different phases of his career. The setlist featured much-loved numbers such as Nadaan Parinde, Chaiyya Chaiyya, Tu Hi Re, Ru Ba Ru Roshini, Pataka Kudi and Tere Bina, among other songs that drew enthusiastic responses from the packed audience.

One of the evening’s special moments was Rahman’s performance of Mangal Rang, his latest composition from the upcoming two-part epic Ramayana. The concert culminated with Maa Tujhe Salaam, as the audience rose to its feet, singing, and celebrating alongside the legendary composer.

Beyond the familiar favourites, the show also spotlighted emerging performers, including Deepali Sahay known for Tere Paas Main, and Nilanjana Ghosh, associated with Mascara from Main Vaapas Aaunga. Their presence added another dimension to the concert, underlining Rahman’s vision of bringing together established voices and the next generation of musical talent.

The Mumbai edition follows the launch of The Wonderment Tour in 2025 at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, where the concert attracted more than 50,000 people. Continuing its large-scale live format, the tour brings together a full orchestra, multiple vocalists, elaborate visual production and music spanning Rahman’s remarkable body of work.

Following the Mumbai show, The Wonderment Tour will head to Gurugram for its next India stop. Rahman is scheduled to perform on November 21 at 7 PM at Backyard Sports Club, marking the tour’s Delhi-NCR leg.
