Andaz Apna Apna 2: Director Rajkumar Santoshi Quashes Rumours About Making A Sequel; Says, ‘I Would Have Made Damini Phir Chamkegi Long Time Long Back’
Andaz Apna Apna director Rajkumar Santoshi announces the title of his upcoming movie, which is similar to Salman Khan-Aamir Khan starrer
Bollywood director Rajkumar Santoshi is one of the most sought-after filmmakers in India. He took the nation by storm with his movies Ghayal, Damini, Khakee and Salman Khan-Aamir Khan starrer Andaz Apna Apna among many others. Over the years, the 1994 music-comedy went on to become a cult classic and rumours about the remaking of the movie and its sequel started doing rounds on the internet.
During a recent interview with ETimes, Santoshi, who is making his directorial comeback after nine years with Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh, opened up about his next venture. Talking to the publication he expressed that while he is not keen on making a sequel, he is making a similar musical comedy. He said, “I am not keen on remakes and sequels. If I was, I would have made titles like Phir Ghayal, Ghayal Ek Baar Aur, and Damini Phir Chamkegi long back.”
“But I am not the type of filmmaker to keep referencing what’s already done. Creating something new excites me. My next film is not a sequel to Andaz Apna Apna, but it is a similar musical comedy with lots of song and dance and it’s called Ada Apni Apni,” he continued.
Talking about Ada Apni Apni, he said just like the film that also starred Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor, the upcoming movie will also star young and charismatic actors. He went on to reveal that he will be making an official announcement soon. He further stated, “The script is finalised. We will make an official announcement about the two male leads and female leads on Diwali this year. Who knows, this film might turn out to be better than Andaz Apna Apna or not. We’ll see soon.”
On the work front, his upcoming movie Gandhi Godse Ek Yudh, is all set to release on January 26th. The music of the film is composed by AR Rahman, which has been produced by Manila Santoshi.
