Anurag Kashyap Accused Of #MeToo By Payal Ghosh: Actress To Meet NCW Head Rekha Sharma To Discuss Her Case
As per the latest reports, Payal Ghosh who accused filmmaker Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct is all set to meet NCW's head, Rekha Sharma to discuss her FIR filed against him
After accusing Anurag Kashyap of sexual misconduct, actor Payal Ghosh filed an FIR against the filmmaker. Reportedly, the FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (I) (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty,), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 342 (wrongful confinement). After filing an FIR at Versova police station on September 21, 2020, the filmmaker was summoned by the cops and was reportedly interrogated for 8 hours on October 1, 2020. The latest update that we hear in this sexual misconduct is that Payal Ghosh will now meet the National Commission for Women's head Rekha Sharma to discuss the further course of action against the filmmaker.
"I will be meeting the NCW chief, some other works also on the table. He should have been arrested by now, but he appeared in front of the police only once. If we feel the investigation is going forward we will decide a further plan of action," said Payal Ghosh to ANI. After his police interrogation, Payal claimed that Kashyap had lied in his statement before the police and she demanded a narco analysis, lie detector and polygraph test to be conducted on him.
Nevertheless, with some serious allegations levelled against Kashyap, a statement was released by Anurag Kashyap's lawyer, Priyanka Khimani where the filmmaker denied all the allegations made against him by Payal Ghosh. The statement read, “In an FIR registered with the Versova Police Station, one Ms. Payal Ghosh has alleged that in August 2013, my client, Mr. Anurag Kashyap, called her to his house and sexually harassed her. My client presented himself for questioning before the investigating authority on 1st October 2020. Mr. Kashyap has denied all wrongdoing in the matter and has provided his statement to the police. The material provided by Mr. Kashyap, in support of his statement, demonstrates that the complaint of Ms. Ghosh is an outright lie.
"Mr. Kashyap has provided documentary proof of the fact that throughout August, 2013 he was away in Sri Lanka in connection with the shooting of one of his films. Mr. Kashyap has categorically denied that any such alleged incident ever took place and has also denied all allegations levelled against him,” the statement further read.
