Anurag Kashyap's Daughter Aaliyah Posts Screenshots Of ‘Vile, Disgusting’ Comments She Received For Lingerie Photoshoot: ‘I’ve Never Felt More Frightened’
Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap posts screenshots of the ‘vile, disgusting’ comments, and opens up on the harassment she faced after a picture of her in lingerie went viral
A few days ago, Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap had opened up about the backlash she faced for posting pictures of herself in lingerie, and how it affected her. She shared that she got called several nasty things and also received rape threats. Now, Aaliyah shared a post on Instagram, opening up about the harassment she faced and posted screenshots of the disgusting comments she received after the picture of her in lingerie went viral. She revealed that the last few weeks were really hard on her mental health and she contemplated deleting her Instagram account.
“The past few weeks have been really hard on my mental health. Ever since I posted a photo of me in lingerie, I have been getting the most vile, degrading and disgusting comments. I have never felt more frightened than I have in the past few weeks to the point where I considered deleting my instagram. I have tried to ignore the harassment and shrug it off but the truth is that we need to speak about it because these kind of comments contribute to the rape culture that affects all women in India (and the rest of the world) in one way or the other," she wrote.
Aaliyah Kashyap called out the hypocrisy of the people of the country who hold candle marches for a woman after she has been sexually assaulted, but won’t stand up to protect women while she is alive. “And the truth is women in India grow up being sexualized their whole lives. I have grown up with these kinds of comments to be a point where it culminated in me being sexually assaulted as a minor by a middle-aged man,” she wrote. Aaliyah added that nothing a woman does or posts, is an invitation for sexual assault. “This is my body, my life, and I choose what I want to do with it,” she wrote.
Aaliyah shared screenshots of several revolting comments on her posts, and one of the Instagram users whose comment made it to Aaliyah’s post later messaged her, apologizing for the comment, saying he would delete it. Aaliyah shared a screenshot of the user’s texts and wrote, “I am LAUGHING.” Check it out below.
