Virat Kohli has announced his decision to quit as India's T20 captain after the upcoming T20 World Cup in UAE. The 32-year-old cricketer issued a statement that said, "I've decided to step down as the T20 captain after this T20 World Cup in Dubai in October." The statement certainly came as a shock to all the fans of the Indian cricket team.
Meanwhile, his wife, actress and producer Anushka Sharma, who holds a strong social media presence, extended her support to her husband and shared his statement on Instagram topped by a heart emoji.
For the uninitiated, Virat and Anushka tied the knot on December 11, 2017. The couple had an intimate wedding in Tuscany, Italy. They became parents to baby girl Vamika in January this year.
Anushka often accompanies Virat on his tours. After wrapping a tournament in the UK, Virat arrived in Dubai with Anushka and daughter Vamika for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The adorable couple spent nearly two months in London before they took off to Dubai this week.
In the UK, Anushka and Virat had celebrated daughter Vamika’s six-month birthday. The actress shared pictures from their outing as she wrote, “Her one smile can change our whole world around ! I hope we can both live up to the love with which you look at us, little one. Happy 6 months to us three."
While in the UK, Anushka had also been chilling with Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty, who is rumoured to be dating cricketer KL Rahul.
Virat Kohli will lead Royal Challengers Bangalore in the remainder of IPL 2021 from September 19. India will begin the T20 World Cup campaign against Pakistan in Dubai on October 24.
