Arre Re! Rekha penning her autobiography!
She just lurrrvs to be a mystery queen, but the word is out. Bereft of any acting  assignments, Rekha has been quietly putting ink to paper.

Yup, the 61-year-old Rekha is penning her own autobiography. The book isn’t likely to be a tell-all confession though. Knowing Ma’am Re, it’s more than likely to be goody-goody and sweeter than vanilla fudge.

For over a decade, now, publishers have been offering her cushy amounts for an authorised biography. The amount hasn’t been to her satisfaction though. In fact, quite a few top publishers of New Delhi went in reverse gear as soon as she quoted the figure she expected since it would not have been commercially viable.

At one point, she was keen to do a coffee table book of Rekha photos clicked by a still photographer of her choice, on dreamy European locations including Paris. Plus, a source informs sptoboyE that she was also quite kicked about doing a book on the major influences on her life and career, starting off with her late mother Pushpavalli and father Gemini Ganesan.

However, the ‘influences’ would not have included Amitabh Bachchan who has acted opposite her in nearly dozen films. She had made it clear that she would not discuss “Him.”

Way back in the 1999, journalist Mohan Deep had written EuRekha! an unauthorised book on the actress which was full of scandalous details. The diva has never commented on the book, presumably to avoid any controversy.

Of late, Ma’am Re has been showing up at awards functions. Her behaviour at these events, however, has surprised senior actresses, one of whom wondered, “Why is she behaving all giggly and girlish? And why does she make it a point to grab photo-ops with Jaya Bachchan? Is she trying to make a statement?”

Be that as it may, the Rekha book when and if it’s printed, should be an absorbing read, even if one will have to read between the lines.
