Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle who has been a recipient of the Dadsaheb Phalke Award and a Padma Vibhushan has now been conferred with Maharashtra State's highest honour. As the singer is on cloud nine, she took to her Twitter handle to share a video where she is seen celebrating her achievement with her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle. In the video, Asha and her granddaughter are seen sitting on the couch where the latter asks her, how is she feeling after being honoured with the Maharashtra Bhushan Award. To which, she replied that she is feeling very delighted.

Despite getting plenty of awards in the past, Asha says that this one is special as it comes from her maayka (mother’s home). Expressing her gratitude towards the state government, she said in the video, “I am very grateful to the Maharashtra government as they have given me this award. Jai Hind, Jai Maharashtra.” While sharing the same video on her micro-blogging site, she tweeted, “Just got the news of being bestowed the Maharashtra State highest honour to a civilian - Maharashtra Bhushan Puraskar. And no better people to enjoy it with than with your own. @ZanaiBhosle Thank you all for your love and blessings. Jai Maharashtra Jai Hind”

The announcement was made by Maharashtra Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray on his official Twitter handle. The tweet read, “Famous singer Asha Bhosale has been awarded the Maharashtra Bhushan Award for the year 2020. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Maharashtra Bhushan Award Selection Committee chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray. After the election, Chief Minister congratulated Ashatai. @ashabhosle”
