Television’s favourite grandmother, Ava Mukherjee who shot to limelight with TV commercials for Himalaya Drug Company in 2000s, passed away at 88.
Mukherjee began her career with a Bengali film Ran Dhakka in 1966. She then went on to essay brief role in Sunil Sippy’s 2000 film Snip. After that Mukherjee featured in Devdas, Darna Zaroori Hai, and Detective Nani, which was directed by her daughter, Romilla.
Before joining the film industry she worked as a copywriter, translator and writer.
