SpotboyE.com has come to know about the plot of the film. Unlike the Badhaai Ho, which was based on a middle-age group couple, played by Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao, expecting a child, Badhaai Do will come with a twist.

Speaking on their characters, Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar told TOI, that while the former plays a cop in the film, latter is a PT teacher. It is being directed by AD filmmaker and the director of Hunterr, Harshavardhan Kulkarni.
Talking about the film, Kulkarni told the daily, “So, when they came to me with this social comedy written by Akshat (Ghildial) and Suman (Adhikary), I just flipped and was instantly on board. Just like the delightful Badhaai Ho, the milieu of this film remains the same but with a fresh set of characters and a completely new zanier situation. I am so looking forward to this edition being brought to life by Rajkummar and Bhumi, two of the most talented actors.”
