Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2: Anees Bazmee REACTS To Kartik Aaryan Replacing Akshay Kumar In The Sequel: ‘Akki Is A Big Star And It’s A Completely New Story'

Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer upcoming horror- comedy ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 is all set to hit the theatres this Friday, i.e. on 20th May 2022. Directed by Anees Bazmee, the film is a sequel to Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's 2007 blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa. To note, when the sequel was announced, many were left wondering why Khiladi Kumar was not cast in the same. Now in a recent interview, Bazmee has revealed why Akshay was not an apt choice for Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The filmmaker said that after watching the film, people will understand why the script did allow him to approach Akshay.
Speaking to Bollywoodlife, Bazmee said, “When you will watch the film you will understand that the script did allow me (to approach Akshay). It’s a totally new film, and if I would have cast him I would have to start the film from where the last one ended. But, that’s not there, it’s a completely new story, and when we decided to make it I always had Kartik, Kiara, Tabu ji in my mind. The director went on to add that Akshay is a great actor and that he would like to work with him again. Earlier, both had teamed up for films ‘Welcome’ and ‘Singh Is Kinng’. Bazmee mentioned that he would love to collaborate with the actor if something exciting comes up.
On a related note, ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ also stars Tabu, Rajpal Yadav as Chhota Pandit, Amar Upadhyay, and Rajesh Kumar in pivotal roles. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, the movie will show Kartik and Kiara's love story with the return of Manjulika after 15 years.
