Why is India hell bent that Priyanka Chopra should get quickly PREGNANT? And if she is, is it necessary that she confirms it with you at the time you want? Madness of herd mentality and lack of ethics in journalism
Even if she is pregnant and say she doesn't want to disclose it, does it make any sense for my fraternity to speculate that some celeb is pregnant just because she visited a hospital? Why is journalism, especially on Internet, sinking into a ditch? A ditch which is full of mostly speculations and conjectures. The pressure to quantify your platform? Or, the growing malaise of taking only selfies with stars and not asking the right questions? Or, the laziness to work hard and reach out to the right people to get a story per se, and importantly, a correct one? How long does it take and how difficult it is to reach out to Priyanka or her mother/brother and send the right query: "What made you go to the hospital? Hope all well".
Anyway, that's what we did. Priyanka's mother, Mrs Madhu Chopra promptly replied, "We had gone there to see a very unwell relative." Now, few journalists might say that celebrities do not revert, blah, blah, blah. A celebrity might not revert, but if you consistently text on most of your stories to the celebrity concerned, a point will soon come where he/she will revert to you either directly or through his PR.
As for Priyanka's "much-awaited" pregnancy, wonder why this nation is obsessed that she should conceive soon? For those who've come in late, we remind you that the speculation began through a blind item in a tabloid and then a picture where netizens felt that she was in early stages of pregnancy. The fashion star's mother later denied that speculation and said that the picture had been taken from a wrong angle.
Again I repeat, unless we have a confirmation from a doctor or the celebrity herself, is it ethically right to carry such stories? Aren't we misusing the freedom of our pen? Sometimes I see the same platform denying its own story, the previous story is proudly counted as content!
And just a quick question: If a female celeb visits a hospital, why is it necessary that she is pregnant? Do hospitals and/or nursing homes in our country provide only one type of service?
