BUZZ: Anurag Kashyap knocks on I&B Minister’s door to clear Udta Punjab

Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh starrer Udta Punjab was rejected by the Examining Committee last week, courtesy its expletive-laden dialogues and scenes showing consumption of drugs. CBFC Chairman Pahlaj Nihalani decided to send the Abhishek Chaubey-directed film to the Revising Committee (Alia & Shahid's gaalis in Udta Punjab: To 'Cut' or 'Not Cut'?, May 22).
Now, word coming in is that producer Anurag Kashyap has directly knocked on the doors of Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore to clear the film.

Not willing to run the risk of cuts being suggested by the Revising Committee or the Tribunal, the producer has skipped approaching the two bodies altogether.
The producer believes that since the film is based on the drug menace in Punjab, the scenes depicting substance abuse and usage of cuss words are justified.
Rathore has, on many occasions, expressed his support for producers. It remains to be seen what his verdict on Udta Punjab will be.
