According to reports, it was a toss-up between Deepika and Alia Bhatt for the director.
A source close to the development revealed, “Deepika and Amole had a meeting recently, and the outcome has been positive.”
Now, that should bring a smile to Saina’s face who had always maintained that Deepika would be the best choice for the role.
Gupte is currently developing the script and negotiating with two top studios who are interested in bankrolling the project. As for the Piku actress, if the deal goes through, she will shoot both – Vin Diesel’s XXX and the biopic, much like how Priyanka Chopra dealt with Quantico and Bajirao Mastani.
When contacted, Gupte quipped, “No comments.”
