CBFC Fast Tracks Screening Of Kangana Ranaut-Rajkummar Rao Starrer Mental Hai Kya
If latest reports are to be believed, Gujarat High Court has urged CBFC to watch Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer Mental Hai Kya without any influence of the petition filed
Here’s some good news for the makers of Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer Mental Hai Kya. A few days back, the trailer launch event of the film was cancelled as psychiatric society and Deepika Padukone's NGO had started questioning the title of the film. Doctors had said that the title encourages everyone who uses 'mental' as a derogatory term. The film also made headlines for its big clash with Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30.
Now, latest reports suggest that the Gujarat High Court has urged CBFC to watch the film without any influence of the petition filed. A source close to the development told Pinkvilla, “CBFC has been directed by the Gujarat High Court that they should watch the movie without getting influenced by the petition that has been filed. And now CBFC has fast tracked the films viewing and the makers of the movie are gearing up for their scheduled release date of July 26, 2019.”
Earlier, talking about the cancellation of the trailer launch event, a source had told the same entertainment portal, “The film has had its share of controversies. The doctors had opposed to the title. The makers wanted them to first watch the trailer and the film before jumping to conclusions. While many allege that the makers are disrespecting people suffering from mental illness, the reality is different."
Before the cancellation of trailer launch event, the makers had released the motion poster of Mental Hai Kya and the makers of the film had also stated the clarification. Ekta Kapoor had put out a disclaimer saying that the “Film in no way marginalises d mental health community & d title of our film doesn’t intend 2 disregard any1 sentiments. It is sensitive towards d issue of mental illness. A fictional thriller dat encourages you 2 celebrate Ur uniqueness & embrace Ur individuality.”
