Chak De India Turns 14: Shah Rukh Khan Thanks The Team For Making Him The ‘Gunda' Of The Movie
Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan - albeit a little late, but warmly - celebrated 14 years of sports drama, Chak De! India. Directed by Shimit Amin, the movie was released on August 10, 2007 and starred a couple of young women as hockey players. The movie saw SRK as their coach, Kabir Khan who helps them win the Hockey World Cup under his guidance. The movie, along with Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades, is inarguably counted as Shah Rukh Khan's best work till date.

SRK took to his Instagram, and thanked the actresses for making this film a beautiful experience. He further thanked director Shimit Amin, producer Aditya Chopra and his banner Yash Raj Films, writer Jaideep Sahni, composer Sukhwinder Singh and cinematographer Sudeep Chatterjee. Further extending his gratitude towards everyone associated with the movie, Shah Rukh funnily thanked them for allowing him to be the ‘Gunda’ of the film. For the unversed, there's a scene in the movie where SRK's Kabir emphasises that there can be only one "gunda" [goon] in a team, and he is that gunda.

Shah Rukh Khan's Insta post read, “Just felt like thanking all the young ladies of Chak De India for making the film such a beautiful experience. And #ShimitAmin, Adi, @yrf , #MirRanjanNegi, #JaideepSahni, @sudeepchatterjee.isc , @sukhwindersinghofficial and all involved with this labour of love for making me the ‘Gunda’ of the film….”

Chak De! India starred Vidya Malavade, Shilpa Shukla, Sagarika Ghatge, Chitrashi Rawat, Tanya Abrol, Shubhi Mehta, Anaitha Nair, Arya Menon, Kimi Laldawla, Masochon Zimik, Sandia Furtado, Nichola Sequeira, Kimberly Miranda, Seema Azmi, Raynia Mascerhanas and Nisha Nair as the hockey players.

SRK is said to be filming for his next Pathan, co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. ALSO READ: Olympics 2021, Women's Hockey: Netizens Flood Twitter With 'Chak De! India' Memes As India Enter Semifinals
