Confirming the news, the producer of Chandni Bar, Amit Mohan, told SpotboyE, "Madhur has even finished writing a rough draft of the story. We plan to put the film on floors sometime this year, probably by July/August."

Why Chandni Bar 2, we asked? Replied Amit, "Madhur was toying with the idea of a sequel to Chandni Bar since quite some time, but we finalised it only after the Supreme Court in a recent landmark verdict directed the police to issue licenses to the dance bars from March 15, 2016." The Maharashtra government had banned dance bars in 2004.
When contacted, Madhur said, "It's a bit early to talk about this."
SpotboyE also has it that Tabu will not star in the lead role. A source close to the development revealed, "Madhur is close to finalising an actress in the top league."
Added the source, "Madhur has done a lot of research on his new subject, which would also dwell on the plight of thousands of girls who went jobless in the wake of the ban."

Meanwhile, Madhur and Amit have a lodged a complaint in AMPTPP (Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers). Added Amit, "We eagerly await AMPTPP to take action against Harish and Sandeep. We don't even know who are these two guys, never seen them, never even heard of them. How can they declare in the press that they are making a sequel to a film whose rights belong to me? They have neither purchased the rights nor I have any intention of selling them."
Madhur and Amit are even contemplating legal action against Harish and Sandeep.
